About WovenLore

What are the Big Ideas?

While this site is dedicated to books, most creative artists create art because they have some Big Ideas that would be difficult or impossible to express by other means. These Big Ideas are part of an ancient human language that uses symbol, metaphor and allusion. As the language is ancient many Big Ideas are quite old as well: Wovenlore organizes books according to the Big Ideas that are woven through our corpus verbal art (i.e. our Lore).

Where does the name WovenLore come from?

We believe that this passing of Big Ideas to posterity is of utmost importance. Some of the best Big Ideas, are woven through art of Fiction. In honor of the spirit of fiction, we modified the aphorism All is fair in love and war.

All is fair in woven lore.

Why Doesn’t WovenLore Review Movies?

Movies tend to leave out the Big Ideas, or rather they tend to allude to them and move on. As an example, The Da Vinci Code film had a plot of an international action movie wrapped in a thin vale of ancient legends and ideas. The Da Vinci Code book was the exact inverse. Movies are simply a different medium. They excel at giving us the texture and feel of a story, but they simply don’t have the same amount of time that we allow books to work on our mind. If your looking for honest straight forward reviews of upcoming movies, I recommend ThinkHero.com.
